Sold-Property

14th May 2020, was a significant day for Edward Mellor

This is the date that the Government allowed us to come back to work after the first COVID-19 lockdown. Filled with a mixture of relief and trepidation the Valuing Team of Edward Mellor took up their front-row position armed with PPE and litres of hand cleanser.

How would the people of Hazel Grove and surrounding areas react? Would the housing market return to its busy pre lockdown levels?

Recent comment from Colin Mellor CEO says ‘The housing market has shown resilience since the last lockdown, with a healthy level of new properties coming to the market and a good number of buyers looking to move or buy their first home.

Hazel-Grove-BranchThere have been many reasons for the positive market conditions and none of them are underpinned by high loan-to-value mortgages.

I think it’s fair to say mortgages for first-time buyers have never been more difficult to get. Anyone who was furloughed at the start of lockdown has also found it pretty difficult to get a mortgage.

Normally, these two things would hold the market back – but this hasn’t been the case. We’ve seen a really healthy level of sales over the last five months, which have pushed house prices up to record level highs.”

Edward Mellor Hazel Grove office is accustomed to doing high numbers so we would be in the best position to be able to assess the housing market. What has ensued in the following 6 months has been quite remarkable.

Hazel Grove over 6 months has listed over 170 properties, has agreed sales on over 150 properties, and has listed nearly 30 properties a month for sale, as well as selling an average of 25 properties a month. These are fantastic results for our office and also shows that people are still moving home during these unprecedented times of 2020.

Chris Taberner and Steve Tipping branch valuers have over 55 years’ combined service with Edward Mellor quoted ‘the Hazel Grove branch, over the last 6 months have worked incredibly hard and have made the process of buying and selling homes very easy for many of our clients. With a strong and powerful team, we would not be as successful without them’.

All Edward Mellor clients receive superior service and become part of the innovative marketing process. If you have a property you are considering selling in the Hazel Grove, Offerton, Great Moor, Woodsmoor and  Heaviley areas Chris and Steve would like to hear from you on 0161 456 6000 or email us on [email protected].
