Your-Guide-to-Hazel-Grove

An Area Guide to Hazel Grove

Let’s start at the beginning…

Hazel Grove is a suburb within the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, in Greater Manchester. Until 1836 the area was known as Bullock Smithy, after the renowned Bullock Smithy Inn. The former village name became unpopular with its residents, so the settlement was renamed Hazel Grove. It could have possibly acquired its new name due to the large number of hazel trees found in the local area.
