We’re proud to announce that Edward Mellor is sponsoring the Dave Holman Challenge charity bike ride, with Daisy from our Northwich team participating in the event. The team will raise funds for Tiny Steps, a non-profit charity dedicated to providing a sensory centre and social cafe for children and young people with additional needs and their families in the Northwich/Winsford area in Cheshire West and Chester.

On the 13th of July 2016, Dave Holman tragically lost his life in a road traffic accident. He was just 38 years old.
Dave was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend and is greatly missed by all who knew him. Since his passing, his friends have organised an annual tradition that has become known as “The Dave Holman Challenge.”
The event is a 50-mile bike ride around Chesire in support of Tiny Steps – a cause that was close to Dave’s heart.
Prior to his death, Dave had undertaken various fundraising events for Tiny Feet. He was preparing to take part in a 37-mile football-themed walk around Liverpool with friends and despite tragic circumstances, the event still went ahead but was renamed the Dave Holman Challenge. The 2024 event is the seventh time the challenge has taken place – and you could be part of it.
The ride will start at the Lion Pub in Moulton, following beautiful country lanes in Lach Dennis, Knutsford and Rostherne. The route will then turn south running through Pickmere and Crowton before finally finishing back at The Lion.
This year’s event will take place on June 15th and the Tiny Steps committee is looking for more cyclists to get involved. If you are interested in taking part in the Dave Holman Challenge 2024, please contact the event’s organiser Sue Tait, on 07885 464911 or [email protected] before June 10.

Tiny Steps is a local charity based in Davenham, which was founded by Martin and Laura Clifton after their daughter was born with West syndrome and severe learning difficulties.
Martin and Laura quickly learned that services and support for families like theirs was non-existent, so they decided to establish Tiny Steps to help provide further support to families like theirs.
The main goal of Tiny Steps is to create a permanent home from where it can fulfil its mission of inclusivity and support for children with additional needs. Central to this vision is providing a dedicated sensory centre, designed to provide a safe, stimulating environment where these children can thrive and develop essential skills.
To learn more about Tiny Steps and its work, or discover how you can get involved visit their website – any support no matter how big or small is greatly appreciated.
We’re thrilled to be supporting Daisy and the team as they take on the Dave Holman challenge. We’ve donated to the event and on the day the team will be sporting Edward Mellor t-shirts and banners on their journey – but there’s still more to be done.
Tiny Steps is a valuable cause that is well deserving of your support, so please do help them in any way that you can.
