HideOut Youth Zone is a safe and inspiring meeting place for young people aged 8-19 and for those with additional needs can attend up to the age of 25. Located on Hyde Road in Gorton, HideOut is a registered charity dedicating to supporting young people and to be providing three things that young people need and deserve:
Young people are welcomed by staff and volunteers at the purpose-built facility which cost £6.6million when it was opened in September 2020. They have the opportunity to take part in many activities from sports, arts, music, media, keeping fit, drama, dance, and more.
By providing facilities like the HideOut Zone offers a safe haven for young people and it really does make a real difference to many young lives across East Manchester.
HideOut Youth Zone is delivered in partnership with OnSide Youth Zones and Manchester City Council and is supported by a number of businesses and contributors, all support the local area in providing opportunities for Manchester’s young people, many of which are from the area or have at some stage lived in the area.
Edward Mellor Door Step Doodles is a creative design competition that we have created for the kids at HideOut Youth Zone to put their own exclusive stamp on an Edward Mellor For Sale Board. We want them to be proud of what they can achieve and we want to showcase as many boards as possible so in order to make it colourful we have chosen the theme of summer! We provided A3 templates for the kids to draw onto and we want them to be creative and as bold as possible, using lots of colour and making the boards be a real summer inspiration for the areas. Edward Mellor Door Step Doodles For Sale boards will be unique, it will make people look and smile and bring a feeling of community spirit around the local areas.
Week commencing 14th June 2021 running to the 28th June sees the start of ‘Edward Mellor Doorstep Doodles’ and we aim to have the unique boards starting to appear across areas of East Manchester from the 26th July until 31st August.
Richard Driffield of HideOut Zone commented “Our members will absolutely love doing this for Edward Mellor, especially as they will get to see their artwork on actual For Sale Boards in the local community. I know there are going to be some amazing and creative designs.! It’s also a great opportunity for us to promote HideOut across the local community and raise awareness of our vital work”
Once the artwork has been completed by the children they will all be returned to the Edward Mellor offices where we will choose our winners of 1st , 2nd and 3rd prizes – winning Love to Shop vouchers We anticipate that 60 For Sale boards will go into circulation and hopefully each with a unique design.
The boards will be displayed in Gorton, Belle Vue, Abbey Hey, Beswick, Clayton, Failsworth, Moston, Newton Heath, Openshaw, Levenshulme, Burnage, Longsight, and Rusholme. So we are looking forward to organising some fun around searching for the boards as they go up in the areas. Don’t worry we will give you a clue so you can find them.
Sue Brennan, Head of Marketing for Edward Mellor commented “We enjoy supporting many local communities across Greater Manchester, Stockport and Tameside. After what has been a challenging year for so many people, we wanted to create a fun and interactive summer campaign that centered around our local communities. I cannot wait to see what designs the children come up with! HideOut offers children such great opportunities and support, it provides a safe environment for meeting up, playing, and learning. The HideOut Zone is so inspiring and is such a wonderful place to be for the children.”
