M20 Festival

A free art and music festival is taking over Withington this October

We’re pretty big on our music here in Manchester – in fact, it’s home to some of the best bands of all time.

Joy Division, Happy Mondays and New Order are just a few big names to come out of our city – and we have Factory Records to thank for that.

This Saturday, a free arts and music festival is taking over Withington to celebrate the founding of Factory Records.

The Manchester-based record label was founded in 1978 by Tony Wilson and Alan Erasmus. After four decades of successfully producing some of Britain’s most iconic tunes, Withington are hosting a music festival to celebrate their 40th anniversary.

The free community event is brought to you by Withington Civic Society in association with Deco Records and MIMR, supported by Manchester City Council Neighbourhood Investment Fund.

What’s happening on the day?

There’s going to be loads of fun things to do at the family-friendly festival this Saturday.

If you hadn’t guessed, there’s going to be loads of live music to listen to over the course of the day.

They’ve rounded up some of Manchester most talented musicians and DJ’s who will be performing from 2:30 pm right through to 2:00 am.

There’s going to be refreshments to keep you going throughout the day too. Head over to The Old Bank where Future Perfect will be selling refreshments from 2 pm- 7 pm – raising funds for art and music therapy at The Christie.

An exhibition will be taking place too where you’ll be able to look around loads of Factory inspired art. The exhibition will be opened by the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham. There will even be a talk from CP Lee about the musical history of the area. So, for all you old school music lovers, this event is perfect for you!
