“ Here at Edward Mellor we are passionate about Glossop, the area, and its people…that’s why Dionne Davenport, based at our local Edward Mellor Glossop branch has lived here for 50 years!!
Leading a charmed, individual existence on the edge of the Peak District National Park, the area is surrounded by the rolling hills of the valley and luscious countryside. Trails and pathways for walkers, meander through stunning scenery. Each route out of Glossop leads through spectacular scenery; the valleys of Hayfield to one side, the vast forests of pine trees and reservoirs of the Derwent Valley in the other direction and we also have the moorland and reservoirs of the Woodhead pass.
Yet this is not all that this market town has to offer! Just half an hour commute by car or rail will get you into the razzamatazz and bright lights of Manchester City Centre…..no wonder city dwellers are moving out here!
The town centre High Street also stands out from the crowd. Attracting big names like Marks and Spencer and Next but also hosting an array of individual boutique-style, independent shops. From award-winning butcher shops to specialist fruiterers, jewellers, and clothes boutiques. If it’s coffee and cake that you are looking for, then the vast assortment of quirky and tasteful coffee shops have much to offer, each with its own unique ambiance.
At night the town becomes a hive of activity with its many individual specialty bars, wine bars, and restaurants coming to life. Whatever your culinary taste then Glossop has it all from Italian, Sri- Lankan, Indian, Chinese to English fine cuisine…you can never be short of choice and tire of this selection.
For the sporting, victorian swimming baths located in Howard Park and the Glossop Leisure Centre near to Manor Park are both close to hand. There are also opportunities for getting involved in the community through organisations such as The Rotary Club, and U3A.
In short, Glossop has it all! Who wouldn’t want to move here?”
