Urbanised Homes have secured planning consent to build a 13-storey apartment block on the former Greenhale House site in Stockport.
The development will contain 164 apartments, with retail space on the ground floor currently earmarked for a coffee shop.
The £30m project was recently given the go-ahead by Stockport’s planning committee, with builders due onsite in April 2019.
Previously the Altrincham-based developers had submitted plans to create a 22-story block that would stand taller than both Pendlebury Towers and Hanover Towers.
The original scheme would have been the development of Stockport’s tallest building.
However, the plans had to be scaled down to make the project more deliverable after other approved applications failed to get off the ground.
The new development dubbed ‘the Place’ is set to be made up of one and two-bedroom apartments, penthouses and duplexes.
Nine of these apartments have been set aside as ‘affordable housing’, keeping in line with Stockport’s planning policy.
Combined with Stockport Council’s plan which proposes to build 3,000 new homes in the centre, this development could contribute to making Stockport the next prime living spot!
