We’re still open for business and continuing to support our customers.
After the news of a national lockdown was announced last night (4th January 2021), the Government has confirmed that the housing market will remain open.
Following strict precautions, we’re able to offer our full range of services, including valuations and viewings, whilst putting the safety of our customers and colleagues first.
Since March, we’ve transformed how we operate, offering a range of virtual and covid safe face-to-face services.
From virtual viewings and mortgage appointments to safe in-house surveys and valuations, we’ll continue to offer you choices on how to move home with us.
Here are the full details of our comprehensive commitments to staying safe whilst helping you move home.
We are operating on an appointment-only system for visits to our offices. This will also apply when conducting viewings and valuations.
Before going ahead with any home or office visits, we will ask:
Upon arrival at our offices, we do politely ask that you wear a face covering and sanitise your hands at our sanitiser stations.
We will also ask you to provide your name and number or scan our QR code as we are operating NHS trace and trace in each of our branches.
If you have not booked an appointment prior to visiting our branches, you will, unfortunately, be denied entry.
We are strongly encouraging all clients to view properties virtually ahead of any physical viewings.
We offer interactive viewings on almost all of our properties – so you can take a virtual walking-tour around multiple houses from the safety of your sofa.
Virtually view any house at any time and if you have any questions, our dedicated team are only a phone call away.
Physical viewings will only take place so that the client can inspect the property which they’ve expressed a strong interest in.
During any home visits, we will wear gloves and face coverings, in line with Government guidelines.
We would also ask that all customers wear gloves and masks when liaising with an Edward Mellor agent. If any clients turn up for viewing without the necessary PPE, the appointment will regrettably be terminated.
We aim to ensure that no more than 2 people from the same household accompany an Edward Mellor staff member on home visits. Everyone must also maintain a minimum distance of 2 metres where possible with internal doors opened.
All parties viewing a property are also advised to wash their hands and avoid touching surfaces.
We will ask that when entering your property, internal doors are open and surfaces have been wiped down before entry.
If the property is empty, we will immediately wipe down any surfaces and door handles after a viewing.
If we are not present at the visited property, we will aim to make sure that both buyers and sellers clearly understand how the viewing should be conducted safely.
Once the visit has taken place, the homeowner should ensure surfaces, such as door handles, are cleaned with standard household cleaning products and towels disposed of safely or washed as appropriate.
We are currently unable to drive clients to appointments.
We are currently unable to carry out any open house viewings.
We will work with our clients, other agents and legal firms to facilitate and promote flexibility when arranging move dates, to manage the timing risks presented by coronavirus.
We will ensure that any keys in our possession are appropriately cleaned before handover.
If you have any further questions or would like to book an appointment, please do get in touch with our team.
Just call your local branch number and one of our property experts will be on hand to help.
