What’s on in Stockport this weekend?


If you haven’t heard, there’s loads going on in Stockport this weekend.

Whether you’re after a family day out, some seriously good street food or a little bit of history – Stockport have you covered.

Let’s take a look at some of the best events happening this weekend, so you can plan which ones you want to go to.


Totally Stockport Festival’s Big Day Out – Saturday 8th September 10am-4pm

There’s something for everyone at this fun-filled event happening this Saturday the 8th of September.

Firstly, CBeebies star, Mr Bloom is back in Stockport this weekend!

Mr Bloom and his veggies will kick-off the festival on stage at the famous art deco Stockport Plaza with another great show packed with fun for all the family.

If your kids are more of a frozen fan, they can meet Anna and Elsa in the princess parade in the Mersey Square. Dig out your favourite princess outfit and dust off your vocal chords because there’s going to be a sing along to some of Frozen’s biggest hits.

If you’ve not worn out your voice belting out ‘Let it Go’ in the princess parade, they’ll be a Greatest Showman Show from 12.30pm. You’ll be able to watch the live show on a stage in the Mersey Square.



It’s not all singing and dancing this Saturday as Batman and his Batmobile will also be making an appearance. Not only can you meet the Dark Knight, but you’ll also be able to take a selfie with him and his bad-ass motor.

Everyone’s encouraged to wear their favourite superhero outfits to meet the Marvel legend – so you better find your cape.

Fancy something a bit more active? There’s something for you too.

There’s going to be a roller rink outside Edward Mellor HQ on St. Peter’s Square from 10 am. Skate the day away whilst listening to some Disco Classics with your pals.

If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, you can give the climbing wall in the Merseyway a go!

There will also be goggle pods available to play in from 10 am. Immerse yourself into a realistic, simulated VR gaming experience in the Merseyway.


Heritage Open Day – Saturday 8th September 10am-4pm


Heritage Day Stockport Underbank

Transport back in time and brush up on your history at the Heritage open day event. Head over to Stockport’s Underbanks and discover what an Edwardian shopping street would have been like back in the day.

The sights and sounds of the bygone Underbanks will feature historic window displays, street stalls, exciting trails and games for all the family.

It’s free, fun and educational so make sure you check it out.


The Stockport Makers Market – Saturday 8th September 10am-4pm

The Stockport makers market offers a selection of the North West’s finest food, drink, art, design and vintage. If you’re a foodie with a love of homemade goodies – you’re absolutely going to love this event.

There will be over 80 talented artisans offering a variety of treats in the historic Stockport Marketplace from 10 am.

Not only will there be loads of things to see, smell and sample but there will be entertainment too. There will be live music from DJ Shutter and Twitch, so you can have a boogie whilst you browse all of the amazing things on offer.

If you love eclectic markets, then you definitely won’t want to miss this one.


Stockport Vintage Village – Sunday 9th September 10am-4pm

The vintage village is a treasure trove of authentic vintage goodies for ladies, gents and your home.

This particular market is an extra special one, as the vintage village will be celebrating its 8th birthday!

They’ve got an impressive line-up of 70 specialist independent traders offering everything from quality clothing to curious collectables.

If you have a wardrobe full of fabulous vintage wear, you can show it off at the Stockport Market Hall – but don’t forget your dancing shoes.

The Dusty Sevens DJs will be getting the party going this Sunday by hitting the decks and spinning their 45s all day.

So, expect a full day of vintage shopping, swing dancing and loads of fun.
